Sandbox is pleased to welcome Thushara Hettihamu to its senior leadership team as Head of People Solutions, further strengthening its capability to deliver people-powered performance solutions across its consulting portfolio.
With over 25 years of cross-sector experience in human capital strategy, organizational development, and communications, Thushara brings a uniquely integrated perspective to the evolving relationship between people and performance. His leadership roles have included Group Head of Human Resources at David Pieris Group, Chief People Officer at Taru Villas and Arinma Holdings, and Director – HR at Waters Edge, where he led large-scale initiatives in performance systems, organizational culture, and strategic workforce development.
Thushara also brings deep experience in brand and internal communications, having spent over a decade at Dialog Axiata PLC in roles that shaped internal engagement, sustainability strategy, and corporate storytelling. His work during this time provided him with rare insight into aligning communication with organizational growth and transformation—an approach he continues to champion in the people development space.
At Sandbox, Thushara will lead Sandbox People Solutions—a core vertical within the firm that delivers strategic HR advisory, outsourced HR management, and comprehensive support for organizations seeking to align their people functions with business performance. This includes performance management system design, policy development, employee engagement strategies, and operational HR capability—all tailored to drive structured, measurable outcomes. With his combined background in HR, internal communications, and creative consulting, Thushara brings both structure and insight to this mandate, helping clients unlock performance through purposeful people strategy.
He will also serve as a Senior Faculty Member, contributing to Sandbox’s learning portfolio through programs focused on leadership, communication, and organizational effectiveness.
